ABSTRACT SUPERMARIO is a performance that I start doing in 1997. I show it for the first time at the exhibition La Voie Lactee as proposed by the Purple Institute Alleged Gallery in the NYC Autumn Rooney was playing SuperMario, you can hear the music and everything only that what you see is Abstract because I pass the video of the game from a special effects console and turn it to pixels.
Later, Purple, asked me to participate at the exhibition Elysian Fields that they did at the Pompidou Center in Paris and I invited Bjork to play Abstract Supermario. The fact that it was Bjork playing was supposed to be kept secret and only few people would actually realize that the cute girl playing was actually a media icon at least as well known as SuperMario. In the end, that performance never happened for different reasons..
